Mel Rees is considered the dean of Adventist educators in the field of stewardship. For over thirty years he has helped various associations and congregations, as well as other levels of the organization, to understand the theology of stewardship and the implementation of its principles in the practical field of the local congregation. His workshops for pastors and laypeople have always emphasized that, more than the promotion of money, stewardship is a divine-human relationship.
