The purpose of being a disciple is not only to proclaim the good news, the word of salvation, but also to demonstrate God's love to those in need. We cannot simply walk out of the darkness and enjoy its wonderful light; we need to go back into the darkness and make a difference. We are chosen by God to be “salt” and “light.” Wherever we are, whether individually or as the body of the Adventist Church, our surroundings should be different from others, transformed by our faithful presence. When we say we are Christians, we are not talking about a selfish Christianity, but a self-sacrificing Christianity that reflects the selfless heart of Jesus.
