Has God abandoned humanity to its fate? Doubt seems justified, given the suffering and devastation wrought by sin that have marred human history, and given how much humanity's very survival is threatened. The incarnation of Jesus, his death on the cross, and his resurrection offer the most striking refutation of God's supposed silence. By turning to Jesus Christ, kneeling before the cross or filled with hope before the empty tomb, humanity embraces God's entire plan for it. It can understand its origins, discover the meaning of life, and have hope for the future.
